This place is Weymul, also known as Cherritta Station. My grandfather used to manage
the station. As years went by, Weymul became the place of my first employment as a
stationhand. I left school halfway through Year 11 to be there and loved every moment.
Handling sheep, learning how to drive a car, motorbike, ride horses. I remember being
lowered down the well for repairs or to rescue bungarra. I was tied to a rope onto a car with
no brakes and would bump into snakes on the way down – lucky they were just pythons and
not deadly ones!
